24th of July

We started our day off by heading down town for the Pioneer Day Parade. We had so much fun watching the different things in the parade. We sat and watched the drama go down between the flag girls and their coach in one of the marching bands. Shortly after the scuffle, a horse got spooked. He jerked back and broke the wagon with a bunch of people inside. Everyone rushed over to calm the horse down and get everything moving again.

Later that night we went on a hike with the Knaphus family up Grandeur Peak to see the fireworks. As we started we realized the hike was 3 miles and it was already 8 o'clock at night. We hustled to finally reached the top and made it just in time for the fireworks. After they were over we all headed back down the mountain. Just after midnight we made it to the bottom. Tyler asked me for the water and we quickly realized that he was missing our backpack. It had everything in it- including the car keys. Since all of us rode in the same car, we were stuck. Tyler panicked and began jogging back up the mountain to get the backpack at the top of the mountain. Three hours later he retrieved the backpack and made it back down the mountain. It was one of the hardest hikes I have done in a long time. Tyler was sweating so bad that the stuff in our backpack was wet! On his second trek up the mountain he had no water and had to resort to using a spring. We are just praying that he doesn't get sick. This was one long night!

Our view at the top was beautiful.
